BIOGRAPHY
Black Up Arrow
Desirée Glanville aka: DevineDayDreams, was born in an ancient town in the center of Holland in 1964.She was the youngest of five girls, and when she was 5 years old, her eldest sister entered the Dutch Art Academy. Desiree was always excited and eager to paint and draw with her, and thus her love for art was born. As a child, Desirée was acutely attuned to nature; playing outdoors, hiking, and picking flowers whenever she could. "I love them for their color and beauty, and thats when I first realized the essence of ART".Desiree continues: Growing up, I developed an interest in photography. My dad was a prize winning amateur photographer, but unfortunately, he wouldnt allow me to even hold his camera, though I constantly made mock-ups and begged him to photograph them. Still, I continued drawing and painting through my teens, and in my early twenties I freelanced; designing menus and painting signs for local shops and restaurants. I dropped most creative activities at age 23, though, and went back to school to become a sociotherapist/psychiatric nurse, graduating at age 26. Working in institutions I soon discovered that environment has a huge impact on human attitude and behavior, so I enrolled to study Feng Shui at the famed Kushi Institute of Northern Europe, and graduated at age 33. Subsequently, I began a registered business in interior design (which I still run today). Over the years I've designed numerous public and private homes, businesses, and installations for more efficient and positive energy flow. From lighting to wall colors to furniture arrangements, materials were generally readily available, but I often found it was frustratingly hard to find suitable art. I had first joined an Art website in 2005 just to be able to comment on my eldest sisters work there. I had no aspirations to be an artist myself, but was encouraged to submit some of my interior designs. One thing led to another, and I began submitting drawings and photographs of flowers, and soon was discovered by a scout from a stock site who started selling my photos there. After joining a few more, I developed a new range of clients, and for the past five years I have been regularly selling images to individuals, businesses, card companies and magazines. In 2006, I met Alexander Glanville, who got me started doing digital art. A few months later we launched Duality Designs, a Feng Shui-based fine art design company, and I finally found exactly the Art I had been looking for! We compiled a collection of images for Outdoor Arts, and shortly after were picked up by an art agent from Amsterdam. Our work has been exhibited and sold all around the world, and has been featured in magazines as diverse as Light of Consciousness and Highlife. Since not all my work was deemed suitable for Duality Designs public space imagery, and I was feeling unduly restricted by its limitations, we closed Duality, and I started anew under the alias, DevineDayDreams.Being anonymous gave me alot more freedom, and has allowed me to explore new directions, as well as push my own imaginations limits! I love working with digital programs, and uniquely combining their software has become my specialty. Each piece is designed according to the guidelines of Feng Shuis 5 elements theory. The attitude that arrangement, color, and environmental psychology give a space is the basis behind my designs. Most of my work is meant to both attract the viewer and enhance the energy of the space it is displayed in. There is something fitting to be found for every corner of any office, store or house here!
